Ganapati celebrations are an intergral part of the culture in Konkan region. A beautifully proportioned and painted wooden hanger is a product that is unique to this region. Repurposing this object to accommodate contemporary applications, the ‘Kamal Khunti’ is largely inspired by this traditional object, thereby encouraging the craftsmen to take pride in their indigenous design.
Kamal Khunti is handcrafted by the Vishwakarma Sutar community in Sindhudurg district of Maharashtra.
