This souvenir of the Sindhudurg Fort is made by artisans from the Vishwakarma Sutar Community of Sindhudurg District, who have inhabited the region for many centuries.
The souvenir is based on an aerial view of the fort island depicted by a painting on wood, with features of the fort, its walls, water bodies, temples, cannons and the Arabian Sea around it. This aerial view of the fort reminds people of the fort, as it existed in its days of glory, along with an understanding of the military and geographical details of the fort.
This souvenir is handcrafted by the Vishwakarma Sutar communities and women in Sindhudurg district of Maharashtra.
