Sikki is a golden coloured grass which grows during the monsoons in the wet and marshy areas around rivers and ponds in Bihar & Uttar Pradesh. Munj (another grass) and khar are other important raw materials for the making of Sikki grass products. Munj is more abundant and rigid, and it is used to give basic shape and strength. At first munj is coiled and then it is covered with Sikki grass. The grass is boiled with food colouring to dye it in different bright colours.
These trays are available in various colour combinations.
Due to the handmade nature of these trays, each one is slightly different which we believe adds to the charm and value of each piece.
